What is the Difference between a Dump and a Landfill?

  1. Dump is not regulated by Federal Regulations/Law
  2. No Leachate Collection
  3. No landfill gas collection, methane gas is combustible and high levels of it can cause of a fire. Landfill gas is primarily made up of Methane and Carbon Dioxide.
  4. No stormwater collection and management system
  5. No erosion and sedimentation control
  6. No liners system
  1. Engineered method of disposing of solid waste on land in a manner that minimizes environmental hazards and nuisances.
