Interesting Transformation in 2009
In our industry (Guam web site development) we have notice some interesting trends emerging that will play an important roll in local and global marketplace this year. What with the high cost of print advertisement and relatively slow assimilation of content, some marketing companies and in-house marketing managers here in Guam are begining to realize that the internet is making more and more sense.
A decade ago, almost nobody was using the internet as an effective marketing tool. Web sites were used to supply a medium for extended information. Goods and services could be explained in greater detail on a website. The fact that a website can be quickly updated for a fraction of the cost of updating other types of media made it appealing as a sort of brochure that anybody could access any time they wished..
Some farsighted individuals were attempting to use the internet as a marketing tool. Most of the time, this did not work out very well for them. They did not have the wrong idea; they simply had the right idea too early. Citizens of the world were not yet ready in large enough numbers to make use of the internet to in this capacity.
People don't seem to change without a pretty extreme catalyst. Unfortunately, the current catalyst for change has been necessity. Global economic calamity and a much softer markets for almost everything have caused serious reductions in advertising budgets in almost every industry except one. Ours!
